Each player has two options: 'Hit' which is to go for another card or'standing' which is to stick with what they have.


The aim is for the total of the cards to equal 21. If it's not, you can go "bust."


The winner is the one closest to 21. A 10 and a 9, for example, would win over a Jack or a 6 respectively. Blackjack is also unique because players don't have to deal with a fixed house advantage. Blackjack has a variable house edge. In Roulette, for instance, the advantage of the casino is the same regardless of which bet you place.


However, the average advantage that casinos have over players playing Blackjack is 2%. This means that the house has an average of 2% chance to win all money that a player wagers. That can be a significant amount of money, especially if bets have high stakes.


How math can be helpful
