What is Poker?
Poker is a mystery. Many people believe that Poker is made of various earlier games. Jonathan H. Green was the one who first noticed the game on a Mississippi riverboat. He described the game as being played between two to four people with 20 cards. The Aces, Kings and Queens were the only ones used, while the Jacks, Kings, Queens and 10s were the ones that were used. Each person was dealt five cards.

Wild Bill Hickok used sat with his back against a wall and his face towards the doors of saloons. He would drink with his left hand so that he could use his right hand to pull his gun out of his holster if he needed it. Wild Bill had many enemies. In a busy saloon, Wild Bill made a fatal mistake. He couldn’t find his preferred seating so he sat behind the door. Hickok was attacked by a man looking to retaliate for his brother's murder. Hickok fell to the ground and dropped his hand. He revealed black Aces, 8s, and pairs of 9s. This hand is also known as "deadman’s hands".
It was called Poker because of its name. Researchers searched for games from other countries to find if they had any similar names.
Realistically, the term "poker", as it is commonly known, probably has its roots underworld of thieves. Since "poke" is a slang used by pickpockets and card-smuggling gangsters, some of them may have been using it before. The term was used by card hustlers to refer to their card-playing victims. It is possible that the "r", which stands for "return," was added to confuse underworld slang-savvy players. Poker's seedy origins are due in part to its simplicity (or quickness depending on which version you play), cheating element and the fact that it's played for cash.
The Wild West period in American history is the most famous Poker-playing time. Numerous famous figures came out of this time, including Wild Bill Hickok and gun-slinger Wild Bill Hickok. Doc Holliday, a dentist turned outlaw and killer, was also well-known for his love of Poker.
Over time, poker evolved to include all 32 cards in the deck. Jokers are only used when playing wild cards. It is popular in casinos, and it is also a very popular game at home. Poker night is usually associated with cigarettes, potato chips and beer-swilling guys, but it can also easily be played by friends and family at a living room table. Experts will often be found in clubs and casinos, as well as tournaments.
