List of five-number lottery games
Five-number Lottery Games
Here is a list of American and Canadian lottery games in which five regular numbers are chosen from a larger pool. The name, number field and frequency of drawing are included in the list. All pick-5 games in Canada or the U.S. are drawn several times per week, usually nightly. Some lotteries also hold such drawings more frequently than once per day.
A majority of U.S. Pick-5 games have a progressive Jackpot, even if they are drawn daily. Rarely, a single ticket can win cash prizes in excess $1 million. Common top prize in pick-5 games that are not jackpot-related is $100,000. You must match at least two or three numbers, not counting the "bonus ball", to be eligible for a winning ticket. The prize payouts depend on the game and can either be fixed (with parimutuel exceptions), always parimutuel or feature a parimutuel Jackpot with fixed lower-tier rewards.
With few exceptions all U.S. or Canadian games in which five regular numbers are drawn from a single pool have had a lump sum jackpot/grand award. Hence, the name Cash is included in many of these games.
Except where otherwise noted, pick-5 games currently listed here are only $1 per play. Some pick-5 games offer an add-on wager for $1. These can be used as either an "instant-match" feature or as a kicker (50 cent Connecticut Cash 5 wager Kicker) to increase the prize level. Caribbean Stud Poker is an increasingly popular pick-5 game. This game combines a traditional drawing and an instant-win feature.
The lists do NOT include "4+1", such as Florida Lucky Money. In these games, all five numbers must be matched in order to win the top prize. However, the two-number field game is Montana's Big Sky Bonus. The double matrix is 4/31+ 1/16 (previously it was 4/28+ 1/17). Matching all four numbers "regularly" wins the jackpot. Matching the bonus ball will net you $10, plus any money for matching at least two numbers "regularly". ).
DC-5, Florida's Select 5, Georgia Five, Ohio’s Choose 5, and Pennsylvania’s pick 5 don't really fit this category. These are five-digit numbers with "straight" or "box" wagers that can be played in the same way as U.S. Pick-3 and Pick-4 games. Numbers in Pick 3 Lottery Games
